"When I came to Italy, I came to Bologna. This is where I have been from the beginning. My children were born here [...] they are studying at university here. I really like Bologna. The people here are good."

Along with her husband, Mrs. Munir has been at fairs in the Emilia-Romagna area for decades now. Originally from Lahore, Pakistan, the couple has been in Bologna since 1999. Initially, her husband worked in a factory, but later the couple got interested in wholesale, at first selling cosmetics and perfumes. It is only recently that they have started selling clothes and focusing on fabrics.

In the very beginning of their transition to Italy, Mrs. Munir and her husband and her faced some discrimination. Their downstairs neighbors would complain about the smell of their cooking and the noise their children would make. Eventually, however, through communication Mrs. Munir says the neighbors understood that the noise was simply how all children behaved. Overall, Mrs. Munir loves Bologna and the community of helpful people she has encountered.
